Ongoing cybersecurity workforce problem: There are too few people to fill the ever-expanding roster of information security jobs. Other efforts, including the U.S. government's National Initiative for Cybersecurity Education, or NICE, are also helping to foster more cybersecurity education, training and workforce development, he says.

In a video interview at RSA Conference 2018, McCumber discusses:

  • Cybersecurity staffing trends;
  • Knocking down barriers to entry;
  • Government moves and child education initiatives.

McCumber is director of cybersecurity advocacy at (ISC)2. He previously worked as a director at Gartner, a senior manager at Mandiant and served as chairman of TechAmerica's cybersecurity committee, among other roles. He's also held positions at RSA, Symantec and Agilent and was a cryptologic fellow at the National Security Agency.
