The Silicon Valley-based company has moved FireEye's best-in-class detection engines to the cloud for NDR and examined how to address emerging needs in areas such as packet capture, says CEO Bryan Palma. Trellix also has sought to strengthen its ability to stop data coming in and out of an organization, reduce SIEM costs by only looking at necessary data, and streamline the investigation process through AI (see: Aparna Rayasam on How Trellix Plans to Boost XDR Protection).
"I think we're going to be seen as a leader in XDR because of the portfolio that we have and our ability to bring those together," Palma says. "You can't call yourself an XDR and not have an endpoint. You have to have SecOps, SIEM and SOAR capabilities, and you have to have data protection. That's going to separate out the crowded market, and there's going to be fewer people that truly can deliver XDR."
In this video interview with Information Security Media Group, Palma also discusses:
- Trellix's relationship with Skyhigh Security in the security service edge market;
- The most common entry points for customers looking to get started with XDR;
- The most significant opportunities for Trellix in identity detection and response.
Before taking the lead at Trellix in October 2021, Palma was executive vice president of FireEye's product division and led the sale to Symphony Technology Group. Subsequently, he led the integration and rebranding of McAfee Enterprise and FireEye to form Trellix. Palma also served as BlackBerry's president and COO, Cisco's senior vice president and general manager of Americas customer experience, Boeing's vice president of cyber and security solutions and PepsiCo Inc.'s first CISO. He previously worked as an agent in the U.S. Secret Service and is a member of the board of directors for TPX Communications.
