Building Cyber Resilience into Your Cloud-First Strategy

Rahul Bakshi of eSentire Discusses Cloud-Native Tooling, Visibility
Rahul Bakshi, chief product officer, eSentire

As a growing number of organizations look to build and execute cloud-first strategies, the need for security visibility across all layers is imperative, along with a focus on building and maintaining resilience throughout the process, said Rahul Bakshi, chief product officer at eSentire.

In a recent blog, Bakshi laid out his cloud security predictions for 2023. He pointed out that security in the cloud is fundamentally different from security in traditional IT environments.

"You're still delivering security, but the process in which you go about that is different," Bakshi said. "If you're making changes in the cloud, you can shut down applications if it's not the right type of change. So, you have to be much more thoughtful about not only what the visibility needs to be, but understanding all those layers of visibility."

Bakshi also highlighted the importance of "having the right capabilities and having the right people and processes in place. It's not all about tools. It never will be. It's all about the people that are taking advantage of the tooling and responding accordingly."

In this video interview with Information Security Media Group, Bakshi discusses:

  • The challenges of cloud adoption and how to overcome them;
  • Recommendations to identify and mitigate misconfigurations in the cloud;
  • Strategies to improve visibility and cyber resilience.

Bakshi leads eSentire's product management teams to develop and execute the company's product strategy. He has more than 20 years of experience in cybersecurity, SaaS, cloud computing and managed services.
