Princeton, NJ - July 28, 2009 - Information Security Media Group, Corp. - Information Security Media Group (ISMG), publisher of BankInfoSecurity.com, CUInfosecurity.com and GovInfoSecurity.com, has just published a new, interactive map of U.S. bank and credit union failures in 2009.

This new map, used to illustrate the news story Bank Failures by the Numbers -- A Look at Where and Why Institutions Are Failing in 2009, compiles comprehensive information about:

  • The number and location of failed banks and credit unions;
  • Names of acquiring institutions (where appropriate);
  • Total cost to FDIC insurance fund (where appropriate).

From this map, viewers can see exactly which states and regions host the institutions that have been hit hardest by the effects of the recession.

"Before if you wanted to do this analysis, you had to draw from several different sources, then reach your conclusions," says Tom Field, Editorial Director of BankInfoSecurity.com. "With this new, interactive map, viewers now have a one-stop shop for up-to-date information on bank and credit union closures."

This map will be updated regularly to reflect the latest failures, as announced by federal regulators.
