SOX compliance is one of the more difficult tasks facing financial institutions. BankInfoSecurity.com offers webinar led by experienced risk management, internal/IT audit and IT compliance professional.
February 20, 2007 Princeton, NJ (BankInfoSecurity.com) -- The importance of complying with Sarbanes-Oxley can’t be overlooked by financial institutions. BankInfoSecurity.com is holding a webinar entitled “SOX Compliance: Implementing and Testing Key Controls in Your Information Systems Operations.” The webinar airs on Tuesday, March 6, 2007.
The Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002 was passed in response to a number of major corporate and accounting scandals which had resulted in a decline of public trust in accounting and reporting practices. The Act establishes a new quasi-government agency, the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB) to oversee independent auditing firms and covers issues such as auditor independence, corporate governance and enhanced financial disclosures.
The webinar covers an approach to identifying, evaluating and testing key IT controls and how they relate to the COSO and COBIT control frameworks. Included is a review of the key provisions of Sarbanes-Oxley 302 and 404 and how they related to Information Technology processes; review of the concepts of internal control over financial reporting and the COSO and COBIT control frameworks; controls implemented at the highest levels of an organization (entity level controls) and those implemented within a particular business process. In addition the webinar reviews the two fundamental types of IT controls, application controls and general controls. The controls reviewed during the webinar can be used as a foundation for any Sarbanes-Oxley control assessment.
The webinar will be led by Adam Losner, who has extensive experience in risk management, internal/IT Audit and IT compliance within the financial services industry. He also works closely with the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) on its International Advanced Technology Committee; and with the IIA, the Computer Security Institute and Symantec as a member of the Security Compliance Council.
