How Micro-Segmentation Can Help Stop Breaches From Spreading

Hackers are going to breach a network, bypassing firewalls and other network defenses. So the focus must be on what happens next, says Mukesh Gupta of Illumio.

"For the last two to three decades, what we're realizing is that after spending billions of dollars on these perimeter technologies, we still can't figure out how to stop the attackers from coming into these data centers," he says. "So now what people are realizing is that we can't prevent them from coming in, but what we can do is ... compartmentalize them and contain them in a corner. And that's really what s driving micro-segmentation."
