Adding former CIA Director Gen. David Petraeus to Semperis' strategic advisory board has given the identity vendor knowledge and valuable insights into global threat activity, said CEO Mickey Bresman.

The New York-area company has exposure into what's happening from a threat standpoint around the world from its incident response arm, and Bresman said combining that with Petraeus' insights and knowledge provides a clearer picture of adversary activity. Petraeus can put threat activity in the context of active wars, such as the Russia-Ukraine war, and stealthy conflicts that fly under the radar (see: Semperis Raises $200M to Extend AI, ML to Identity Security).

Bresman discussed "having Gen. Petraeus' ability to provide guidance and insight into certain decisions that we were trying to make: Should we expand into this area? Should we work with that specific government?"

In this video interview with Information Security Media Group, Bresman also discussed:

  • What's different about securing Active Directory in the public sector;
  • The significance of joining the Microsoft Intelligent Security Association;
  • The most common types of technology that Semperis can displace.

Bresman began his technical career in the Navy. His comfort zone is on the front lines, helping organizations thwart and respond to cyberattacks. The longtime cybersecurity expert and entrepreneur has an extensive track record of driving revenue growth and scaling organizations across the globe. Prior to co-founding Semperis in May 2014, Bresman held the position of chief technology officer at YouCC Technologies, a Microsoft Gold Partner integration company.
