Dr. Jack Lewin on the Need to Mitigate Emerging Risks
Medical devices are increasingly used by cybercriminals to compromise networks, systems and patient data, says Dr. Jack Lewin of the consultancy Lewin and Associates, who's also chairman of the National Coalition on Health Care. That's why physicians should be advocates for better device security.

In an interview at Information Security Media Group's recent Healthcare Security Summit in New York, Lewin discusses:
- Why medical device security needs to be a higher priority;
- Why he wants stronger FDA mandates for medical device security; and
- Why physicians need to get more involved in the device security issue.
Lewin is founder and principal at Lewin and Associates, a consulting firm that focuses on launching healthcare start-up companies and developing policy and advocacy positions for healthcare companies and government. He's also chairman of the National Coalition on Health Care, a national advocacy organization representing more than 90 national healthcare organization. His prior roles include serving as president and CEO of the Cardiovascular Research Foundation, and as CEO of the American College of Cardiology and the California Medical Association. He also was Hawaii's Director of Health and a commissioned officer in the U.S. Public Health Service.
