The Shift to File-Centric Security

Seclore's Kniffin on How Next-Generation Enterprise Digital Rights Management Changes How Banks Protect Files
The Shift to File-Centric Security

Security leaders do well securing stored data and data in transit. But what about the integrity of data after it reaches the intended recipient? This is a huge gap to be bridged, says Chris Kniffin of Seclore.

"It's about being able to control what people can do with the data," says Kniffin, U.S. Sales Director at Seclore. "You intend for them to have it, but you want to limit their use of the information by who can access the file, what they can do with the file, which device they can use to access a file, and for how long."

This is the next generation of data protection, Kniffin says. It's not just about protecting data at rest or in transit, but persistently protecting data at work. You will see this 'always on' file-centric protection in a new type of solution called Enterprise Digital Rights Management.

In an interview about securing data, Kniffin discusses:

  • How organizations are inadvertently putting customer data at risk;
  • How Enterprise Digital Rights Management (EDRM) works;
  • What to look for in an EDRM solution and where to use it in a bank;

Kniffin joined Seclore in 2014 as U.S. Director of Sales. Based in New York, he is a 20-year sales veteran of both enterprise and application software solutions. He previously worked at TIBCO software supporting Managed File Transfer solutions; and also with Attachmate focused on emulation infrastructure software as well as security solutions for the mainframe.
