A Rise in Encryption?

Vormetric on Technology Improvements
A dramatic reduction in processing requirements for encryption may mean increased utilization of the technology, says Todd Thiemann of Vormetric.

"[In the past], encryption consumed a lot of processing power," says Thiemann, senior director of marketing, in an interview with Information Security Media Group at Gartner Summit 2012. "But over time, through software tuning, you're speeding things up."

Organizations looking to encrypt need to first identify what their most sensitive information is. "Enterprises are figuring [that] out and then taking actions to secure that data from insider or outsider threats," he says.

Thiemann, senior director of product marketing at Vormetric and co-chair of the Cloud Security Alliance Solution Provider Advisory Council, has more than 20 years of experience in the information technology and security industry.
