Arbor's Holden on How to Focus on the Most Damaging Threats
Network Security - Empower Your People
Dan Holden, Arbor Networks

When it comes to responding to network security threats, it isn't just a matter of collecting and analyzing data. It's a question of how quickly you can put that data to work in your defenses, says Dan Holden of Arbor Networks.

It's not just a technology challenge, says Holden, Director of Arbor's Security Engineering and Response Team.

"The security industry for a very long time has always preached a combination of technology, people and process, but really ... the focus has been on the technology," Holden says. "But the technology really needs to be looked at in a manner in which it is making the people and process more effective."

Ultimately, Holden says, the question becomes: 'How do you get your defenders up to (or close to) the same speed as the attackers?'

In an interview about improving network security, Holden discusses:

  • The attack campaigns that post the most serious threats to financial services firms and data;
  • The new approach needed to maximize network security tools and teams;
  • Arbor's new product launch and how it will help organizations focus on the network security threats that pose the biggest risks.

Holden is director of ASERT for Arbor Networks Inc., a leading provider of network security and management solutions for enterprise and service provider networks, including the vast majority of the world's Internet service providers and many of the largest enterprise networks in use today. Arbor's proven network security and management solutions help grow and protect customer networks, businesses and brands.
