Masking Test Data in the Cloud
Karen Hsu of InformaticaData stored in a sandbox typically is a full copy of data stored in the production environment, she notes, and masking the data manually is labor-intensive and error-prone. Automated data masking makes protecting the data easier, she says.
In an interview, Hsu describes:
- Emerging cloud computing threats;
- How automated data masking can address threats;
- How masking can restrict access to data in a production environment based on the user's role as well as location.
Hsu's work at Informatica includes bringing to market new Data Security and Privacy solutions that include Dynamic Data Masking, Persistent Data Masking and Test Data Management. She has worked with partners such as Imperva, Voltage, Application Security, Wipro, and Cognizant to bring these data security solutions to industry verticals and new markets. She has also driven new solutions with organizations such as ACORD and SWIFT to accelerate the adoption of new industry initiatives.
