Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning - Present & Future

Liran Paul Hason of Aporia on the Promises and Challenges of AI and ML
Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning - Present & Future
Liran Paul Hason, co-founder and CEO, Aporia

How did artificial intelligence enter the cybersecurity space? Liran Paul Hason, the co-founder and CEO of Aporia, says the catalyst was visibility tools. Security teams started acquiring them several years ago, which led to the accumulation of a lot of data. Reviewing that data and dealing with false positives was challenging. As Hason puts it, security teams were "losing themselves in piles of data."

So, cybersecurity solutions "started to incorporate AI technology in their offering," Hason says, which allowed security teams to "make smarter decisions" and receive "more sophisticated and more to-the-point insights and alerts on different security events."

That's where AI is now, but Hason says AI and machine learning are going places. "The pace with which the industry is growing is crazy," he says. "And I see a significant growth in the next few years."

In this episode of "Cybersecurity Unplugged," Hason also discusses:

  • The most promising applications for AI and ML right now;
  • Dealing wih the unintentional bias that machine learning models can generate;
  • Regulating AI technologies to ensure their responsible use.

Hason is the co-founder and CEO of Aporia, a full stack machine learning observability platform used by Fortune 500 companies and data science teams around the world. It helps monitor billions of daily predictions and maintain AI responsibility and fairness. Prior to founding Aporia, Hason was a machine-learning architect at Adallom, which was acquired by Microsoft. He served five years in the Israel Defense Forces and attained the rank of captain.
