Will AI and ML Make Security Cheaper?
Rapid7's Richard Moseley on Advances in Data AnalyticsArtificial intelligence and machine learning will have a significant impact on lowering the cost of securing an organization because it will reduce the need for advanced skillsets, predicts Rapid7's Richard Moseley.
AI and ML have enabled a leap forward in the analysis and correlation of the vast amounts of data available to security teams today, he contends (see: Beyond Correlation Rules: How to Build a Better SIEM).
"The level of analytics capability in an organization through the use of these techniques has allowed them to bring much greater context and understanding of ... what is happening to the risk profile in their organization and providing comprehensive updates as the landscape changes, as threats happen and as the organization evolves. And that has had a significant impact on the overall cost of securing the organization," he says.
In this interview (see audio player link below image), Moseley discusses:
- The relevance and growth of AI and ML in security;
- How AI and ML can aid User & Entity Behavioral Analytics, and other analytics technologies (see: Comparing Threat-centric vs. User-centric Security Frameworks);
- Recommendations for security pros for 2018.
Moseley is the senior vice president - international growth at Rapid7 Inc. for Latin America, EMEA and APAC. Prior to joining Rapid7 in 2013, he served as the vice president and general manager for EMEA and APAC at Quest Software. He has also served as vice president of APAC and Japan operations at Dell Software.
