Protecting domain name systems finally has the attention of cybersecurity professionals -because every recent large data breach has involved a DNS vulnerability. But there is much work to be done. According to Ihab Shraim, chief technical officer at Corporation Services Company or CSC, just 1 in 100 security companies knows who their registrar is and where their domain name resides. He said domain security hygiene is crucial in managing a domain name ecosystem.

In this episode of CyberEd.io's podcast series "Cybersecurity Insights," Shraim discussed:

  • How security experts and businesses underestimate the importance of domain security;
  • Why malicious actors target domain portfolios and the technology ecosystem;
  • The methods malicious actors use, including generative AI, to exploit emerging domain name extensions.

Shraim is responsible for the vision, innovation and product revenue growth within the company's cybersecurity, domain security, fraud protection, and brand protection lines of business. Prior to joining CSC, he was on the board of Binary Guard and served as its CTO. He also worked as the general manager for Presidio's managed security service and was the vice president of engineering, anti-fraud, and CISO at MarkMonitor, which was then part of Clarivate Analytics.
