Industry News: Accuvant and FishNet to Merge

Accuvant, which provides services to maintain organizations' enterprise information security programs, and FishNet Security, an information security consultancy offering training, assessments and privacy services, have signed a definitive agreement to merge. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Upon the closing of the transaction, Accuvant CEO Dan Burns will become the CEO of the combined company, while FishNet Security CEO Rich Fennessy will remain onboard as an adviser to assist in the integration effort. The combined company's name and corporate headquarters location are yet to be determined.

IBM Unveils Cloud Security Portfolio

IBM has unveiled its intelligent security portfolio for protecting vital data and applications in the cloud.

The new cloud security tools use analytics to give companies a clear line of sight into the security status of their entire business, from private data centers to the cloud, and even to an individual employee's mobile device. This view shows who is using the cloud, what data individuals are accessing and from where they are accessing it.

AccessData Group Splits Into 2 Companies

AccessData Group has split of its businesses into two independent, global companies, AccessData and the newly formed Resolution1 Security. This new structure will enable each company to deliver more focused customer engagement and support.

The company split will go into effect Jan. 1, 2015. AccessData will continue to address the challenges around big data, endpoint and mobile forensics, and the legal investigation and review process. Resolution1 Security will introduce an automated incident response solution called the Resolution1 Platform.

Sophos Delivers Android Device Security

Sophos announced the availability of security and device management capabilities for the Android mobile platform through Sophos Cloud and Sophos Mobile Security.

Sophos Cloud now features Android support, delivering one console for managing desktops and mobile devices. It helps keep corporate information safe with mobility management features, including remote lock, remote wipe, password reset, theft protection, Wi-Fi configuration and Microsoft Exchange setup help. Sophos Mobile Security now features a new anti-virus engine, Web protection technology for the Android platform and comprehensive malware protection.
