How UK Cyber Security Council Is Addressing Cyber Skills Gap

Responsibility for running the U.K. cybersecurity industry's Cyber Certified Professional credential has moved from the National Cyber Security Center to the UK Cyber Security Council. The council seeks to set the standard for chartered cybersecurity professionals and align with qualifications and certifications in the sector, says council CEO Simon Hepburn.

In a video interview with Information Security Media Group, Hepburn discusses:

  • Updates from the UK Cyber Security Council;
  • The council's approach to addressing the skills gap and improving diversity and inclusion within the industry;

Hepburn joined the UK Cyber Security Council in September 2021. He is a charity and education executive with over 20 years of experience in a variety of national and international organizations. Hepburn was previously chief executive of a charity, founded two others and held director roles with a variety of charities, multi-academy trusts and businesses. He was also a trustee board member of the Association for Chief Executives of Voluntary Organizations and has sat on the BBC Charities Advisory Board.
