"By reducing the attack surface, it helps me avoid the cost, and catch the bad guys. PAM also increases my efficiency overall because I have fewer credentials, and it has enabled a seamless workflow," Deterding said.

Deterding said that having a PAM solution enables him to talk to prospective clients about cybersecurity controls, and it helped cut cyber insurance costs in half over the past two years.

"My theme for 2024 is: Make security boring. So, we've done that. We've implemented the default path as the secure path. We don't have people going around it, and we don't have people complaining about it. It just works, and that's a win in the world of PAM."

In this video interview with Information Security Media Group, Deterding discussed:

  • His PAM implementation journey;
  • The business benefits of a PAM solution;
  • How to determine the right approach to implementation.

Brent, who leads security at Afni, is a spirited and thoughtful conversationalist who does not shy away from challenging topics. He is a CyberEdBoard member.
