High Desert FCU Sold To Alaska USA FCU

Alaska USA FCU, of Anchorage, AK will purchase certain assets and assume the shares and certain liabilities of the $102 million credit union and will service the credit union's 11,000 members.

The NCUA took over the credit union because of operational issues. The NCUA had operated the credit union until a merger with or purchase by another credit union could be arranged.

Alaska USA Federal Credit Union is a full service, $3.9 billion federally-chartered institution with more than 350,000 members throughout the United States. Alaska USA has 52 branches in Alaska and Washington and also serves its members through over 5,600 shared service center locations nationwide. High Desert FCU was originally chartered to serve George Air Force Base in Victorville, CA and served residents of San Bernardino County.
