Security Lessons From the Secret Service
Nathaniel Gleicher Discusses Essential Steps to Controlling the EnvironmentImproving network security requires understanding your environment and controlling it before implementing network segmentation, says Nathaniel Gleicher of Illumio, who explains lessons that can be learned from the Secret Service's approach.
In an interview at Information Security Media Group's recent Healthcare Security Summit in New York, Gleicher, who formerly was a White House cybersecurity official, discusses:
- Security lessons to learn from the Secret Service;
- Why cybersecurity is not a technology problem; and
- The limitations of firewalls.
Gleicher is head of cybersecurity strategy at Illumio. Previously, he investigated and prosecuted domestic and international cybercrime at the U.S. Department of Justice, advised the South Korean government on technology policy, and served as director for cybersecurity policy on the National Security Council at the White House.
