Why Firms Need to Invest in Security as Response Strategy

India is witnessing a 300% rise in cyberattacks and is the fourth-most-targeted country in the world for cybercrime, Pant said. "One of the reasons for the increase in the attacks is the sheer increase in over 1.4 billion mobile users and 800 million internet connections and besides investing in technology."

In this video interview with Information Security Media Group at ISMG's Dynamic CISO Excellence Awards and Conference, Pant also discusses:

  • Shortcomings in responding to cyberattacks;
  • The government directive to the telecom and power sector to onboard CISOs;
  • A collaborative approach to leveraging threat intelligence capabilities.

Pant, a keynote speaker at the summit, coordinates cybersecurity activities across multiple sectors in the National Security Council of India for the prime minister's office. He previously headed the Army's cyber training establishment for three years and served for 41 years in the Army Signals Corps, where he was honored three times by the president of India for distinguished service.
