"We all know that a well-funded, patient, creative attacker - there's no way to keep them out," says Lastline's Patrick Bedwell. So organizations have an imperative to spot attacks - including malware and attackers' lateral movement and command-and-control communications - as quickly as possible and arrest them.

In a video interview at the recent Infosecurity Europe conference in London, Bedwell discusses:

  • Prevention versus detection and reaction;
  • How attackers laterally traverse networks;
  • Malware-as-a-service trends;
  • Enterprise-focused identity and intellectual property theft via credential stealing and stuffing.

Bedwell heads product marketing for Lastline. Previously, he's worked at organizations such as AlienVault, Fortinet and Arcot Systems.
