Gregory Touhill Reflects on Challenges for New Administration
Brigadier General (retired) Gregory Touhill was the first federal CISO of the United States. Fresh from that role, he opens up on the state of federal cybersecurity and what the new administration should do to enhance protections.

In a video interview at RSA Conference 2017, Touhill discusses:
- His tenure as federal CISO;
- The state of federal cybersecurity;
- The draft cybersecurity executive order awaiting the president's signature.
Before being appointed federal CISO in 2016, Touhill was the director, command, control, communications and cyber (C4) systems, U.S. Transportation Command, Scott Air Force Base. In that role, he was responsible for the planning, integration, operations and maintenance of U.S. Transportation Command's C4 systems. He also served as the command's CIO, responsible for the investment strategy for all information technology resources.
