Medical experts are split over whether the variants will overcome the vaccinations and spark another surge. And you can count Phelps, founder of Emergency Management & Safety Solutions, among those who fear another surge is likely.
“The variants are doubling every seven to 10 days in the United States,” Phelps says. “It is a race. The more vaccines we get into people’s arms between now and the end of March, we have a better chance of curbing a substantial surge. However, I am deeply concerned that [surge] is going to happen.”

- How virus variants could inhibit recovery;
- Arguments for and against the risk of another infection surge.
