OpenText: Road to Smarter Information Management, SecurityOpenText Cybersecurity's Focus on End-to-End Security, Simplified Security Platform
Arguably, the hottest topic of RSA Conference 2023 was the impact of AI and machine learning. OpenText Cybersecurity Senior Vice President of Marketing and Strategy Geoff Bibby said organizations need to develop AI policies, but they really need to focus on simplifying their security environment.
"Certainly, there are examples of products out there that are ready for at least a beta look. But for the most part, we're a long ways off from it being a real reality of delivery," Bibby said of AI.
The emphasis right now needs to be on smarter security, Bibby said. OpenText Cybersecurity has been acquiring some of the world's most widely known brands, such as Micro Focus, ArcSight for SIEM, Fortify for application security, NetIQ for identity and access management, Voltage for data security, Carbonite for safe backups, and Webroot for threat intelligence and protection for endpoints and networks.
"Smarter security equals simplified security," Bibby said. "The only way we're going to get simplified security is by aggregating, on behalf of our partners or our customers, into one platform and delivering that to them in a way that's easy to consume."
In this video interview with Information Security Media Group at RSA Conference 2023, Bibby discusses:
- How recent acquisitions, including Micro Focus, turned OpenText Cybersecurity into an "information management powerhouse";
- Strategies for ingesting AI into operations and developing policies around AI;
- What's next for OpenText Cybersecurity and its customers.
Bibby has over 20 years of experience working with security companies. Prior to joining OpenText Cybersecurity, he was the vice president of corporate marketing at Zix Corp. He specializes in demand generation, revenue creation, marketing campaigns, marketing automation, analytics, business intelligence and customer relationship management. Prior to Zix, he spent six years at Entrust Inc., where he served in various management roles, including marketing director for Entrust European operations.
