CISOs should strive to elevate cybersecurity from a "cost center" to a strategic "business risk," he said. Trend Micro is addressing this by building more cyber risk capabilities into its tools, helping CISOs quantify risks to their boards.

"There are a lot of businesses that have boards but don't have that expertise, so it is a challenge for a lot of organizations today," he said.

In this video interview with Information Security Media Group at Infosecurity Europe 2024, Clay also discussed:

  • How advancements in computational capabilities make risk mitigation challenging;
  • The challenges that sophisticated misinformation campaigns pose;
  • The effectiveness of AI tools in improving cybersecurity defenses.

Clay has more than 27 years of experience in cybersecurity. He uses his industry experience to educate and share insights on Trend Micro’s externally published threat research and intelligence. He also delivers webinars, writes blogs and engages customers and the general public on the state of cybersecurity globally.
