Clockwise, from top left: Tony Morbin, Anna Delaney, Mathew Schwartz and Tom Field

In the latest weekly update, four editors at Information Security Media Group discuss important cybersecurity issues, including why security teams are still unprepared for intrusions that get launched over weekends and holidays. The editors - Tony Morbin, executive news editor, EU; Anna Delaney, director, productions; Mathew Schwartz, executive editor, DataBreachToday & Europe; and Tony Morbin, executive news editor, EU - discuss:

  • Highlights from a discussion with CSO Sam Curry of Cybereason, who shares findings from a survey of 1,200 global cybersecurity professionals at organizations that fell victim from a ransomware attack, which reveals that nearly one-quarter of them still have no incident response contingency plans for weekends and holidays;
  • A joint warning from the U.S. Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency and the FBI that attackers are more likely to strike outside business house, and especially during holidays, which urges companies to hone their incident response plans accordingly;
  • Apple's lawsuit against Israeli spyware vendor NSO Group, which was recently blacklisted by the U.S. government for acting "contrary to the foreign policy and national security interests of the U.S."

The ISMG Editors' Panel runs weekly. Don't miss our previous installments, including the Nov. 12 edition discussing whether "work from anywhere" is sustainable in the long term and the Nov. 19 edition discussing Cyberspace Solarium Commission updates.
