Scott Gilbert

Assistant Special Agent in Charge, Miami Division, FBI

Gilbert is the assistant special agent in charge, Miami Division, Federal Bureau of Investigation. He oversaw the transformation of the division's intelligence processes and enhanced its collection capabilities. He has also led several significant investigations, including national security cybercrime and espionage matters. Born near Bangor, Maine, he received a bachelor's degree in European history from Troy State University in 1986, a master's degree in social science from Troy State University in 1988, and a Ph.D. in educational research and applied statistics in 1992 from Florida State University. Gilbert worked as a research associate/statistician with the US Federal Judicial Center before joining the FBI. He first reported to the Baltimore Division, Calverton Resident Agency, where he investigated violent crime and white collar cases. He has provided oversight and guidance to multiple field offices conducting investigations into complex money laundering and asset forfeiture matters and he has also taught anti-money laundering and terrorist financing to numerous foreign and domestic partners. In 2007, he was assigned as the SSA of the Hostage Working Group, Baghdad, Iraq.
