Phil Cole

Phil manages security operations and incident response for the University of Queensland, and supports AusCERT operations to provide incident response services and advice to AusCERT members. AusCERT is a leading Cyber Emergency Response Team for Australia and provides information security services and advice to its members. Phil's role within AusCERT is focused is on improving business outcomes by finding the right balance between security and usability, and minimising the impact of incidents when they happen. Phil is passionate about helping stakeholders improve their information security and their ability to respond to incidents. Phil's previous roles include working as a Biomedical Engineer in a wide range of different roles including medical ICT systems, medical device management and maintenance, patient safety investigations and health technology procurement. He also managed technology for a Human Factors research group and usability testing lab.
