"As a CIO, my job is to make things simple for end users. Typically, when you look at an enterprise's stack over a period of time, we experiment with various solutions, various ERPs and various CRMs. So, the first thing that comes to our mind as a region CIO is to simplify and protect the core," Uppili says.

"If we want to be resilient to market changes, the first thing we need to do is to simplify internally. Over a period of time - the last five years or so - we have converged our architecture from 400 ERPs to one ERP across the globe," he says.

In a video interview with Information Security Media Group, Uppili also discusses:

  • How to align digital initiatives with business goals;
  • The role of artificial intelligence in GE's roadmap;
  • How to innovate without business disruption.

Uppili has around 18 years of experience in leading digital transformation for organizations within healthcare, finance and telecommunications verticals. In his current role, he manages the digital priorities to align with regional growth strategies and improve end-user experience with innovation in technology and automation.
