An open architecture, single pane of glass, and robust endpoint security technology have been vital to fueling Trellix's growth in extended detection and response, says Chief Product Officer Aparna Rayasam.

Rayasam says Trellix has combined the capabilities of FireEye and McAfee Enterprise to give customers a unified view of their security posture for configuration, reporting and forensic purposes. Trellix also has built more than 400 integrations into its XDR platform to provide customers with more choice around the technology they wish to use to build their security stack, according to Rayasam.

"Almost everyone that we see in the security landscape is claiming to have XDR," she says. "I think we had inadvertently created more confusion for the end customer because, candidly, not everyone actually has it."

In this video interview with Information Security Media Group, Rayasam also discusses:

  • How Trellix has fused McAfee's EPP and FireEye's EDR capabilities;
  • The strengths Trellix brings to the table around threat research;
  • The biggest cybersecurity trends to watch at Black Hat USA 2022.

Rayasam guides the team responsible for the development and strategy of Trellix's XDR ecosystem and leads Trellix Threat Labs. A recognized leader in the application security and enterprise software industries, Rayasam has more than 20 years of experience at industry leaders - Akamai, Oracle and Adobe - where she steered the evolution of products and R&D, architected new market categories in security, managed large acquisition and integration efforts, and led cross-functional engineering and product teams. Rayasam is energized by integrating customer empathy into the product development cycle and mentoring, and she serves on the board at TeleSign.
