Temurkan underscored the rise of sophisticated phishing and the evolving strategies employed by ransomware attackers in the shifting threat landscape, but since AI is here to stay, organizations must find a "balance between security and usability." He highlighted the inevitability of AI's presence in this evolving landscape, stressing that education, collaboration and continuous assessment are needed to maintain a robust cybersecurity strategy.

"The power of AI is in the data and input. We must educate our stakeholders on the risks and the positive potential of secure AI use," he said.

In this video interview with Information Security Media Group at Black Hat Europe 2023, Temurkan also discussed:

  • The importance of continuous assessments for third-party risk management;
  • Prominent threats confronting the current global cybersecurity threat landscape;
  • Potential misuse of AI by cybercriminals and how organizations can mitigate them.

Temurkan has more than a decade of experience working in both the private and public sectors. He manages information security operations in complex multisupplier environments and implements security protocols into cloud integrations.
