Content Enabling the Mobile Workforce

Content Enabling the Mobile Workforce

In today's global economy, access to information anytime from anywhere is essential to maintain high levels of customer service and a competitive edge. Whether it is case management, insurance claims, or internal review processes, mobile devices are in use by employees in the field and are here to stay in business. In fact, mobile capture and access for internal and external clients is becoming mandatory rather than a "nice to have" option. AIIM research shows that 45% of organizations polled indicate mobile access to content is very important or vital to their organizations. Businesses are beginning to embrace the mobile workforce environment, with 57% indicating the use of company issued devices while 32% indicate acceptance of Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) if it is done within corporate use policies. This drive toward mobile use, while beneficial, also presents some interesting and challenging changes to the content landscape. Access to content, and content capture, must now be viewed through the eyes of the mobile worker, and the scope of ECM (Enterprise Content Management) must extend to include MCM (Mobile Content Management).
