Appthority Launches On-Device Capabilities

Appthority, the leader in enterprise mobile app risk management, today announced  a significant new product update in response to increased customer demand for faster and more flexible enterprise mobile security. In addition, Appthority announced the release of their first 2015 Enterprise Mobile Threat Report with mobile app risk research from the Appthority Enterprise Mobile Threat Team (EMTT), the industry's first enterprise focused, mobile-centric security and app risk research group.

Enterprise and government workforces depend on mobile solutions for increased productivity, while adopting Bring Your Own Apps (BYOA) and Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) policies in an effort to protect against corporate security and privacy risks. Appthority's research shows that close to 80 percent of mobile apps exhibit hidden behaviors that put sensitive corporate data at risk. Only Appthority combines the largest global database of millions of analyzed public and enterprise mobile apps with a policy management engine to speed app review and approval and enforcement of custom use policies for thousands of employees within minutes.

"This year, we'll likely see the first corporate breach traced back to a mobile app," said Domingo Guerra, president and co-founder, Appthority. "The enterprise is experiencing a massive influx of new end-user devices and apps that offer new ways to perform workday tasks. To help our customers protect themselves against mobile app threats, we've developed new on-device features that allow enterprises to tailor their mobile security policies and immediately detect and manage risky apps. Using the new Appthority mobile app, employees can be proactive and search for apps and learn about any possible risks before they install apps on their devices. Further, our new Mobile Threat Team enables companies to stay one step ahead of the latest mobile threats and will give them actionable insight to protect their organizations from malware and hidden risky mobile app behaviors."

The new Appthority Product Update includes the following features:

--  Malicious app and malware detection directly on employee devices: With a
new mobile app for iOS and Android, Appthority has enabled new on-device
malware detection by constantly assessing employee installed apps
against the latest mobile risks to provide immediate alerts and
remediation in case of threats to corporate and user data.
--  Enhanced and customizable mobile risk management policies: New
capabilities dramatically improve the way IT mobile/security teams can
set up and administer mobile app risk policies and app risk scoring. For
instance, company executives or in-country personnel can be assigned
risk management policies that are specific to their group, enabling more
        effective and fine-grained risk assessment.
--  Compliance monitoring and whitelist browsing: Enterprises can now create
app store categories for employees to be able to search for apps that
are compliant, or whitelisted, with IT information security policies.
For example, an employee could search the "Business: Documents & Files"
category to see which cloud storage apps are IT compliant before they
        choose one.
The launch of the Appthority Enterprise Mobile Threat Team gives Appthority the industry's first mobile-centric security and app risk research group focused exclusively on identifying, analyzing and reporting on potential enterprise mobile threats and data loss vulnerabilities. In addition to the EMTT's on-going mobile threat analysis and reporting via its blog the team will publish quarterly reports assessing the overall state of mobile app risks to the enterprise.
