P.F. Chang's Investigating Card BreachIssuers Say Fraud Dates Back to March

The company says in a statement provided to Information Security Media Group on June 10 that it's working with authorities to learn more about the nature of the apparent breach and subsequent fraud that has been reported at several of its locations nationwide.
"P.F. Chang's is aware of a situation where stolen credit cards used at several of its restaurants experienced fraud on them," states Anne Deanovic, a spokeswoman for the company. "We will provide an update as soon as we have additional information."
A handful of U.S. card issuers tell ISMG that a breach from March 20 to May 30 was believed to have exposed cards used at P.F. Chang's. But ISMG was unable to confirm any alerts issued by the card brands.
For weeks, industry sources have been buzzing about a new retail breach with far-reaching impact that was expected to come to light (see Why More Retailer Breaches on the Way). But card issuers contacted by ISMG say it remains unclear whether the P.F. Chang's incident is that far-reaching breach.
P.F. Chang's has more than 210 restaurants in the U.S. and nearly 40 international locations. The company also operates the fast-casual chain Pei Wei, which has nearly 20 U.S. locations.
