At Gemalto, a global digital security company, McDermott has spent the last five years in information security focused on the financial sector. A leader in the Canadian security space for more than 20 years, he has sat on and advised PCI Executive Steering Committees for some of Canada's largest retailers, and was the co-chair of a PIPEDA task force providing governance input to the Privy Council. McDermott has been active in the CFI CERT since its inception and he was the founding chair of the Canadian Retail CERT. In addition to his work at Gemalto, McDermott contributes original content through blog posts about industry trends and best practices for The Canadian Institute.
