Chief Scientist, Agari
Chief scientist at Agari with 20 years of experience as a security researcher and scientist studying phishing, crimeware and mobile security at organizations including PayPal, Palo Alto Research Center (PARC) and RSA Security. Co-founder of three digital security startups spanning email fraud prevention, user authentication, mobile malware detection and secure user messaging. In addition to his work at Agari, Dr. Jakobsson is a visiting research fellow of the Anti-Phishing Working Group, and serves on the technical advisory boards of Cellfony and Lifelock.
Previously, he has held positions as Principal Scientist at Xerox PARC, Associate Professor at Indiana University, Adjunct Associate Professor at New York University, Vice President of the International Financial Cryptography Association, Principal Research Scientist at RSA Security, and member of the Technical Staff at Bell Labs.
Jakobsson researches fraud, social engineering and phishing, and the prevention of these attacks. He has laid the foundations to the discipline of how to perform experiments to assess risk arising from sociotechnical vulnerabilities in the context of current and potential future user interfaces.
